Goyal Co-Chairs 6th India-US Commercial Dialogue, Inks MoU for Critical Mineral Supply Chains

Washington D.C., 5th Oct. The sixth consecutive India-US Commercial Dialogue was held today in Washington D.C., co-chaired by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, and U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo. The dialogue aims to enhance the business and investment climate between the two nations, focusing on new and emerging technologies.

During the dialogue, India and the US signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to “Expand and Diversify Critical Mineral Supply Chains.” This agreement seeks to leverage the complementary strengths of both countries, facilitating the exploration, extraction, processing, recycling, and related activities of critical minerals.

Goyal also held a bilateral discussion with U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai to explore mutual interests and strengthen ongoing cooperation under the India-U.S. Trade Policy Forum. They discussed various avenues to enhance two-way trade between the nations.

In addition, the Minister conducted one-on-one meetings with prominent industry leaders, including Mr. William E. Conway Jr., Chairman of the Carlyle Group, and Mr. Julian Nebreda, CEO of Fluence Energy, a Siemens and AES Company.

Later, at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Shri Goyal delivered a keynote address titled “India’s Evolving Manufacturing Landscape,” emphasizing India’s commitment to becoming a leading manufacturing destination and integrating further into global supply chains.

Concluding the visit, Minister Goyal reaffirmed India’s dedication to strengthening bilateral commercial and trade relations with the United States, highlighting the government’s focus on facilitating investment and fostering innovation to generate employment while adapting to technological advancements.
