Ghaziabad Woman Arrested for False Gang-Rape Allegations Against Husband, His Friends

Published:

Ghaziabad- A woman has been arrested for repeatedly filing false allegations of rape, gang-rape, and kidnapping against her husband, who was previously her live-in partner, and his friends. Police officials said her latest accusation was proven false, and she had changed her statements multiple times in previous cases. Her husband, Vikas Tyagi, is already in jail based on one of her earlier complaints.

According to the police, the woman had filed three First Information Reports (FIRs) with contradictory statements. In June last year, she accused Tyagi of raping her under the pretext of marriage and causing her miscarriage by assaulting her. However, she later retracted her claim before a magistrate, stating that their relationship was consensual and her miscarriage was due to medical reasons.

In August, she filed another complaint, alleging she had changed her earlier statement under threats from Tyagi and his associates. Later that month, she submitted an application stating she had married Tyagi and requested withdrawal of her complaints. A video uploaded by her also supported this claim. However, in January, she again filed an FIR, alleging that Tyagi and her mother had forced an incomplete marriage upon her and that he had raped and assaulted her. She later escalated her allegations, accusing him and two friends of gang-rape.

Investigations revealed that the gang-rape allegations were false, though medical reports confirmed burn injuries. Tyagi was arrested on February 17.

The woman’s most serious allegation came on February 25, when she claimed three of Tyagi’s friends had kidnapped and gang-raped her after injecting her with an unknown substance. She further alleged that they poured a chemical on her neck, inserted a bottle into her private parts, and abandoned her near Mehrauli Gate.

However, CCTV footage contradicted her claim, showing her leaving home, sitting in a car, and returning normally. Call records and location data of the accused also confirmed they were not at the scene. Medical reports suggested the chemical on her neck had been applied with cotton.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Kumar Singh stated, “The FIR was found to be false and fabricated. The woman has been arrested.” When asked about her possible motive, he noted that she had been living in Tyagi’s flat since their relationship began, indicating a possible property dispute.
