New Delhi: The Startup Mahakumbh 2025 concluded on a high note in the national capital, with the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) taking center stage as a strategic presenting partner. The event marked a major milestone in India’s innovation journey, drawing thousands of entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts, and policymakers to celebrate the dynamism of the country’s startup ecosystem.

GeM’s pavilion was among the most visited, recording a massive footfall. More than 2,500 startup-related queries were addressed and over 1,000 startups completed registration and cataloguing on the GeM portal during the three-day event. The platform also hosted 1,500+ interactive sessions, including one-on-one mentorship and skill-building engagements through its Learning Management System (LMS).
GeM’s participation underscored its growing role in supporting India’s innovation economy by connecting startups with government buyers. The platform showcased how public procurement can be a powerful catalyst for startup growth, helping emerging businesses achieve market validation, scale operations, and contribute to the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
The Startup Mahakumbh featured sector-focused pavilions in DeepTech, AgriTech, MedTech, BioTech, Artificial Intelligence, and Gaming. Within this dynamic setting, GeM emerged as a vital bridge between innovative startups and the government procurement ecosystem, helping startups align their solutions with national priorities.
A standout feature of GeM’s engagement was a high-impact panel discussion featuring platform leaders, industry voices, and senior policymakers. The discussions centered around:
- Charting India’s Growth Story
- Boosting State Procurement through Startups
- Emerging Technology as a Service
- Driving Startup Growth via GeM Categories
- Unlocking Opportunities with Central Government Buyers
In his keynote address, Shri Ajay Bhadoo, CEO of GeM, emphasized the transformative power of public procurement. “Let’s work together and unlock the true potential of public procurement in driving startup growth, inclusive development, and Atmanirbhar Bharat,” he said.
The GeM Pavilion also featured over 70 innovative startups, including 30 startup pods awarded free of cost to winners of the GeM Start-o-nauts Challenge. These startups showcased cutting-edge solutions across sectors, underlining the strength and diversity of India’s entrepreneurial talent.
To date, GeM has facilitated transactions worth ₹38,500 Crore for more than 30,000 startups, firmly establishing itself as a cornerstone of India’s innovation ecosystem.
