New Delhi, 23rd Sept. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) to enhance cooperation in the area of food safety.
The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the Global Food Regulators Summit 2024, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The agreement marks the beginning of a new chapter in bilateral relations, with a focus on improving food safety standards through joint projects and technical collaboration.
The MoU was signed by Brazil’s Agriculture Minister, Carlos Henrique Baqueta Fávaro, and counter-signed by FSSAI’s CEO, G. Kamala Vardhana Rao.
Rao highlighted the significance of the MoU, stating, “This partnership demonstrates our commitment to food safety and represents a major milestone in our efforts to bolster international cooperation. We look forward to working closely with MAPA to achieve shared goals in enhancing food safety.”
Brazil’s representative also emphasized the importance of the MoU, stating that it strengthens institutional collaboration between the two countries through technical cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint initiatives aimed at improving food safety practices.
Both FSSAI and MAPA are committed to fostering a long-term partnership that will contribute to advancing food safety in India and Brazil.
