New Delhi, 4th Oct. Amid rising tensions in West Asia, some flights from Europe to India have been affected, with Air India closely monitoring the situation, officials said.
German airline Lufthansa canceled its flights from Hyderabad to Frankfurt (LH753/01) and Mumbai to Frankfurt (LH757/01) on Wednesday due to the ongoing situation in West Asia. The airline had earlier canceled flights from Frankfurt to Hyderabad and Mumbai on Tuesday.
Jeffrey James, Head of Lufthansa Group Communications (Asia Pacific), informed PTI on Wednesday, “Passengers have been re-routed or accommodated accordingly.”
Lufthansa operates around 65 flights weekly between Europe and India.
Officials stated that both Air India and Vistara had stopped using Iranian airspace some time ago due to safety concerns.
An Air India official mentioned on Wednesday that the airline evaluates all flights daily for potential security risks, whether in the Middle East or elsewhere. “If necessary, alternative routes are chosen to avoid risky areas, minimizing the impact on our operations. The situation is being closely monitored,” the official added.
Air India has already suspended its flights to Tel Aviv (Israel) until further notice.
