Mysuru- Mysuru police have registered an FIR against former BJP MP Pratap Simha for his controversial remarks on Muslims in connection with the recent police station attack case, officials said on Saturday.

The case was filed at Udayagiri police station following a complaint by Syed Abrar, President of the Youth Congress. The complaint alleges that Simha made insulting remarks, questioning the citizenship of Muslims and accusing them of increasing their population.
“His statements are communal and can create disharmony between Hindus and Muslims,” Abrar stated, demanding legal action. Simha had earlier remarked that Muslims should have left India during Partition and accused them of not contributing to the nation.
The FIR comes in the wake of communal tensions in Mysuru, where a social media post mocking opposition leaders and making provocative remarks led to stone-pelting at Udayagiri police station. The police resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Meanwhile, the BJP and Rashtra Suraksha Jan Andolan Samiti have announced a protest in Mysuru on February 24, alleging government inaction. So far, 17 people, including a religious leader accused of delivering a hate speech, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
