Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to embark on an official visit to the United Kingdom and Austria on Monday, where she will engage in high-level ministerial discussions aimed at strengthening economic and financial ties. Her visit, set to conclude on April 13, will include participation in the 13th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD) in London and bilateral meetings with key leaders in Austria.
A major highlight of her visit is the 13th Ministerial Round of the India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue (EFD), scheduled for Wednesday in London. This dialogue, co-chaired by Sitharaman and the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer, serves as a crucial platform for deepening cooperation in financial regulations, investment frameworks, UPI interlinkages, taxation, and measures to curb illicit financial flows.
The Indian delegation’s key priorities at the 13th EFD include bolstering partnerships in IFSC GIFT City, insurance and pension sectors, FinTech, the digital economy, and mobilizing sustainable climate finance. The finance minister and her UK counterpart are also expected to announce new reports and initiatives to further enhance bilateral economic collaboration.
Sitharaman will address the India-UK Investor Roundtable, where she will interact with top executives from pension funds, insurance firms, banks, and financial services institutions. She will also hold discussions with investors and financial leaders to explore new investment opportunities in India.
In Austria, the finance minister will hold bilateral talks with Austrian Finance Minister Markus Marterbauer and Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker. Additionally, she will co-chair a session with Austrian Minister for Economy, Energy, and Tourism, Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, focusing on expanding investment collaborations between the two nations.
