New Delhi, 18th Sept. At the inauguration of the India-EU Water Forum on Wednesday, EU Ambassador to India, Ugo Astuto, highlighted the success of ongoing water management projects in India.
He emphasized the strong and innovative partnership between the European Union and India, particularly in areas like river basin management, treated water reuse, and climate resilience.
Astuto expressed the EU’s interest in extending this collaboration to Africa, stating, “We are now keen to work with Africa to bring our respective expertise, develop innovative water management strategies, and foster regional water security.”
India’s Minister of State for Water Resources, Dr. Raj Bhushan, and Secretary of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation, Debashree Mukherjee, both echoed the positive impact of the partnership.
They stressed the importance of addressing challenges such as urban flooding and water storage while enhancing climate resilience.
With proven success in India, the EU-India water partnership aims to take their expertise to other regions, contributing to global water security and sustainable practices.
