Bengaluru, 18th Oct. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches on Friday as part of a money laundering investigation connected to alleged irregularities involving the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). This case has implicated Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his family members, and others, according to official sources.

Raids were carried out at the MUDA office in Mysuru and various other locations, with ED officials accompanied by a central paramilitary force. However, sources clarified that no premises belonging to the Chief Minister or his family members were included in the operation.

The federal agency had recently filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Siddaramaiah and others after taking cognizance of a Lokayukta FIR that implicated him. The Chief Minister faces allegations related to the improper allotment of 14 sites to his wife by MUDA.

Individuals named in the FIR, registered by the Lokayukta police on September 27, include Siddaramaiah, his wife B M Parvathi, brother-in-law Mallikarjuna Swamy, and Devaraju, from whom Swamy purchased land gifted to Parvathi.

Siddaramaiah has firmly denied any wrongdoing, asserting that the opposition is “scared” of him and stating that this marks the first “political case” against him.
