Hyderabad, 19th Oct. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of raids on Saturday at multiple locations in Andhra Pradesh, including the premises of former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP and Telugu film producer M.V.V. Satyanarayana, in connection with a money laundering investigation linked to a land grab case.

Officials reported that at least five sites in Visakhapatnam, including those of Satyanarayana and an associated auditor, are under scrutiny. Satyanarayana, who lost the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Visakhapatnam constituency while contesting on a YSRCP ticket, has produced numerous Telugu films.

The money laundering investigation is based on a police FIR filed on June 22, alleging that Satyanarayana and others unlawfully acquired government land intended for constructing a residential facility for senior citizens and orphans.

The complainant, Ch. Jagadeeswarudu, who, along with his wife, promoted Haigreeva Infratech Projects Ltd., claimed that the Andhra Pradesh government allocated them 12.51 cents of land in Yendada village in 2008 for the project.

Jagadeeswarudu alleged that he engaged an auditor named G. Venkateswara Rao, who then introduced him to Satyanarayana and a man named Gadde Brahmaji for the development of the government-sanctioned project. In 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed, but Jagadeeswarudu contended that their signatures were “fabricated” and that they were coerced into signing blank papers, leading to the alleged misappropriation of the documents.

He described the situation as a “criminal conspiracy” to seize their land, stating that the accused had “threatened” them with severe consequences. The ED is currently investigating these allegations, prompting the ongoing searches.
