New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Monday in New Delhi, holding comprehensive discussions on trade, investment, education, connectivity, and culture. The meeting aimed to deepen the longstanding relationship between the two nations and explore new avenues for collaboration.

Jaishankar shared details of the engagement on Instagram, stating, “Pleased to welcome FM Ararat Mirzoyan of Armenia this evening in Delhi. Productive discussions on advancing trade, investment, education, connectivity, mobility & culture. Also shared perspectives on the recent global and regional developments.”

Emphasizing the historical depth of India-Armenia relations, Jaishankar noted that the two countries share strong political ties, a growing trade partnership, and robust cooperation in defence and culture. He also acknowledged Armenia’s role in fostering people-to-people exchanges, particularly in education.
“Where our own countries are concerned, these are ties very, very deeply rooted in history. Today, we have good political cooperation, our trade figures are increasing, we have defence collaboration and culture has always been a strong point,” Jaishankar remarked.
Jaishankar highlighted several international initiatives where India and Armenia collaborate. He recalled the visit of Armenian National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan to India in December 2024, reinforcing parliamentary engagement between the two nations.
India and Armenia also work together in global platforms such as the United Nations, the International Solar Alliance (ISA), and the Voice of the Global South Summit.
The Indian student community in Armenia was another key topic of discussion. Jaishankar expressed gratitude to Foreign Minister Mirzoyan for Armenia’s efforts in ensuring the well-being of Indian students pursuing higher education in the country.
