New Delhi, 27th Sept. The BJP legislative team, led by Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, met Delhi Chief Secretary and submitted a memorandum addressing key public issues. The memorandum raised concerns about the lack of CCTV installation, the non-formation of the 6th Delhi Finance Commission, water shortages, broken roads, the failure to table 11 CAG reports, rising pollution levels, and the delay in issuing ration cards to 90,000 poor residents.

The BJP legislators accused the AAP government of deliberately stalling development work in their constituencies. The meeting was attended by BJP MLAs Om Prakash Sharma, Mohan Singh Bisht, Abhay Verma, Ajay Mahawar, Anil Bajpai, Jitendra Mahajan, and former MLA Raj Kumar Anand.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Gupta said, “Delhi’s citizens are suffering due to the negligence and irresponsible behavior of the Delhi government. Corruption is rampant, and the government has failed on all fronts.” He further alleged that AAP is intentionally ignoring development projects in BJP-held constituencies, citing the non-installation of CCTV cameras and lack of funds for infrastructure projects.

Highlighting government failures, Gupta mentioned that the 6th Delhi Finance Commission has not been formed for the past four years, resulting in a financial crisis for the Delhi Municipal Corporation. He also pointed out severe water shortages affecting over two crore Delhi residents, despite the Delhi Jal Board being buried under ₹73,000 crore of debt.

On the condition of roads, Gupta stated that post-monsoon rains have left roads full of potholes, leading to accidents and worsening pollution due to dust. He also raised the issue of 95,000 poor citizens being denied ration cards, which would have allowed them to benefit from the Centre’s ‘Antyodaya Anna Yojana’ scheme.

Further, Gupta criticized the government for withholding funds for 12 Delhi University colleges, disrupting staff salaries and students’ education. He also emphasized the failure to table 11 pending CAG reports, corruption in the construction of 24 hospitals, and the deteriorating transport system.

Gupta called on the Chief Secretary to address these pressing issues and indicated that the opposition will seek answers during the upcoming Assembly session on September 26-27 to hold the government accountable.
