New Delhi, 13th Oct. A team from the Special Cell of the Delhi Police will be dispatched to Mumbai to assist in the investigation into the murder of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique, police sources confirmed on Sunday.

Baba Siddique, 66, was ambushed by three assailants at Kher Nagar, located just outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s MLA office, and was shot on Saturday night. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

“A team comprising four to five members from the Special Cell will go to Mumbai to investigate and assist the Mumbai Police. The team will look into the gangster angle,” stated a police source.

In response to the murder, the Mumbai Police’s crime branch has initiated a probe from various angles, including the possibility of contract killing, business rivalry, or threats related to a slum rehabilitation project.

Authorities have already apprehended two suspects: Gurmail Baljit Singh, 23, from Haryana, and Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap, 19, from Uttar Pradesh. Investigators have also dispatched teams outside Maharashtra to locate the third suspect, who remains at large.

The shooters reportedly fired four to five rounds from a 9.9 mm pistol, which has since been recovered by police. The investigation continues as officials work to uncover the motives behind this shocking act of violence.
