Delhi Police Cracks Down on Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants, Arrests Five

Published:

New Delhi: In an intensified drive against illegal foreign residents, Delhi Police arrested five Bangladeshi nationals on Monday for staying in the national capital without valid documents. Officials confirmed that formalities for their deportation would begin soon as part of an ongoing crackdown initiated under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directives.

According to police sources, two of the arrested Bangladeshis were apprehended from Sadar Bazar, while the remaining three were caught in outer Delhi. Investigations revealed that these individuals had illegally procured government documents to establish their identity in India.

Delhi’s Ongoing Crackdown on Illegal Foreigners

This latest action follows a series of verification drives conducted across Delhi to track and identify illegal immigrants.

On March 8, the Delhi Police conducted a large-scale verification drive in Jai Hind Camp, Vasant Kunj, where individuals were asked to produce identity proofs. Similarly, a similar operation was carried out on March 6 in South Delhi’s Sangam Vihar to identify foreign nationals living without valid documentation.

Special Mission to Identify Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has been leading a special mission to identify Bangladeshi immigrants residing illegally in the city. Earlier this year, Delhi Police busted a major racket that provided fake government IDs to illegal foreign residents, particularly Bangladeshis, enabling them to stay and access state-provided facilities.

During this operation, police arrested 12 individuals linked to the gang, with several Bangladeshi nationals deported back to their country. The probe revealed that some illegal immigrants even held Indian voter ID cards, raising concerns over potential electoral fraud.

Authorities Tighten Scrutiny on Illegal Immigration

Police officials have reiterated that the crackdown is aimed at strengthening national security and ensuring that only legal residents have access to government services. Authorities have also warned those aiding illegal immigration of strict legal action.

With further investigations underway, Delhi Police is expected to continue its verification drives across multiple locations in the national capital, ensuring that all illegal immigrants are identified and deported in accordance with the law.
