Being currently hailed as the ‘Dad of the Year’, David Jones, a father from South Carolina, endured extreme weather conditions and a grueling 50-kilometer journey on foot to ensure that he would be present at his daughter Elizabeth’s wedding. Jones’ incredibly heartwarming story, now widely shared, showcases the unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter.
Jones, a former marathon runner, just strapped on his backpack and set off on a journey to be present for his daughter’s wedding bracing the hurricane Helene which has been known to cause widespread destruction of lives and property. But, hurricane Helene couldn’t dampen his spirit and determination to walk his daughter down the aisle. Jones embarked on extraordinary difficult and 12-hour long journey braving through the hurricane.
According to the story shared by Good News Movement, Jones had originally planned to drive from Boiling Springs, South Carolina to Johnson City, Tennessee, where the wedding was to take place. However, severe flooding had led to blocked roads.
Jones’ efforts to be a part of his daughter’s big day have warmed people’s hearts.
