Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by a margin of 25 runs in the 17th match of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 5.

Here are the top three highlights from today’s match in IPL 2025
Vijay Shankar’s Slow Innings
Though Vijay Shankar scored 69* off 54 balls, his innings lacked intent. He played a rather slow knock that included five fours and a single six, ending with a strike rate of 127.78. With CSK chasing over 9 runs per over, the innings never gathered momentum, and Shankar’s lack of acceleration proved to be a major reason for their third consecutive defeat.
DC’s Economical Bowling
DC bowlers put on a clinical display at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, restricting CSK to 158/5 in their 20 overs despite a strong batting line-up featuring Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shivam Dube. After setting a target of 184, DC made early inroads, picking up three wickets in the powerplay while conceding only 46 runs. Vipraj Nigam was particularly effective, dismissing Conway and Dube, and finishing with figures of 2/27 and an impressive economy rate of 6.80.
KL Rahul’s Match-Winning Knock
KL Rahul opened the innings for DC and anchored the side till the final over. His masterful knock of 77 (51) guided DC to a competitive total of 183/6 in 20 overs. He stitched together two half-century partnerships — first with Abishek Porel and then with Sameer Rizvi. Rahul’s innings featured six fours and three sixes, ending with a strike rate of 150.98. He was deservedly named Player of the Match.
