Bhopal, 2nd Jan. Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Dr. Mohan Yadav, is set to initiate a new initiative with the launch of ‘Janata Darbar’ (Public Court) to address public grievances directly. The first session is scheduled for January 6, 2025, at the Chief Minister’s residence.
This move is seen as an effort to ensure direct interaction with citizens and resolve their issues. According to officials from the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, all preparations for the first ‘Janata Darbar’ have been completed. CM Yadav will meet with the public from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on January 6 to hear their complaints and concerns. Notably, previously filed complaints will be scrutinized before being addressed during the session.
While the ‘Janata Darbar’ concept is reminiscent of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s ‘Janata Darshan’, which has gained popularity in UP, this marks a fresh step in Madhya Pradesh’s governance. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Ministers such as Digvijay Singh, Uma Bharti, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan have also conducted similar grievance-redressal programs. However, CM Yadav’s ‘Janata Darbar’ is expected to have some distinct features.
The initiative will focus primarily on hearing issues related to healthcare, welfare, and urgent public concerns. Applications for transfers and postings will not be entertained. Special attention will be given to the sick and needy, with priority given to their petitions. It is anticipated that around 500 to 600 people will attend the first ‘Janata Darbar’.
Feedback from the first session will help refine the process. Key aspects like whether the Darbar will be held every Monday, whether prior registration will be required for participation, and how many people will be allowed to attend will be determined after the initial event.
This initiative, being the first of its kind under CM Yadav’s leadership, is expected to bring transparency and a greater sense of accessibility to the state’s governance.
