New Delhi, 14th Sept. In view of an undiagnosed fever outbreak that has claimed 15 lives in Gujarat’s Kutch, the Union Health Ministry has ramped up surveillance measures.
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP), and One Health Mission are now on high alert. Monitoring extends to key entry points such as airports, land ports, and seaports.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will oversee diagnostics, with labs ready to increase diagnostic kit supplies if needed. Under the PM-Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), tertiary care and emergency services have been bolstered.
The Gujarat government has deployed specialist doctors and 50 medical teams across affected villages. Samples are being analyzed at the Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre and the National Institute of Virology to identify the cause of the outbreak.
