New Delhi, 24th Sept. In the midst of controversy surrounding the use of animal fat in the preparation of the famous Tirupati laddu, the Union Health Ministry has issued a show cause notice to AR Dairy Food Private Ltd., a key supplier of ghee to the Sri Venkateswara Temple.
This action follows the ministry’s quality testing of samples collected from four companies, revealing that one supplier’s sample did not meet safety standards due to adulteration.
The notice was dispatched by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), the regulatory body responsible for ensuring food safety in the country. The Tamil Nadu-based firm is being held accountable for allegedly providing substandard ghee to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, which manages the temple’s affairs.
The controversy has sparked a public outcry as devotees and stakeholders demand transparency and quality assurance in the preparation of the beloved laddu, which is offered to millions of devotees visiting the temple.
