A high-level meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently underway at its headquarters in the national capital to assess the party’s readiness for the crucial Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5.

The meeting, chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda, is being attended by Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, Organization Minister Pawan Rana, In-charge Baijayant Panda, Co-in-charge Atul Garg, and Union Minister Anurag Thakur, along with other prominent leaders of the Delhi BJP.

With the elections just days away, the BJP is making an aggressive push to wrest power from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which is eyeing a third consecutive term. The BJP, which has been out of power in Delhi for nearly three decades, is leaving no stone unturned, with Amit Shah personally monitoring the campaign and party strategy.

The ruling AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, continues its efforts to retain its stronghold, while Congress is attempting to regain relevance after a dismal performance in the last two elections.

The political atmosphere in Delhi has turned heated as leaders from all three major parties—AAP, BJP, and Congress—have intensified their campaigns.

Recently, AAP accused the BJP-led central government of hatching a “huge conspiracy” against Delhi residents by allegedly instructing officials to remove AAP supporters from the voter list. “This is an attempt to manipulate the elections unfairly,” claimed AAP leaders.

In response, the BJP has leveled serious allegations against the AAP government, accusing it of settling Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants in Delhi and facilitating the issuance of Aadhaar and voter cards to secure votes from these groups.

The Congress, which once ruled Delhi for 15 consecutive years under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, has struggled to find its footing in the last two assembly elections. The party failed to win a single seat in 2015 and 2020, while AAP emerged dominant in the 2020 elections, winning 62 out of 70 seats. The BJP managed to secure only eight seats.

Congress leaders, however, remain optimistic, claiming they will deliver a surprise performance this time.

As the election date nears, the campaigns are expected to reach fever pitch, with all parties vying for the attention of Delhi’s voters. For AAP, retaining Delhi is crucial to sustaining its national ambitions, while for the BJP, a victory in Delhi would be a significant breakthrough after years of being in the opposition in the state.

The coming days will see intensified rallies, door-to-door campaigns, and strategic outreach programs, as Delhi prepares for one of its most fiercely contested elections in recent years.
