Patna, 14th Oct. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar officially launched the trophy tour for the Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 on Monday, marking the event set to be held in Rajgir from November 11 to 20. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister unveiled the trophy and initiated the ‘Gaurav Yatra’ by handing the trophy to girl students from Eklavya Sports School, who accompanied the bus carrying it.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, the trophy will be showcased at various locations across the state to promote sports, particularly among youth and women, in anticipation of the tournament. The trophy will travel through Punjab, Haryana, Odisha, and Jharkhand from October 16 to 19, before touring all 38 districts and arriving in Rajgir on November 10.

This prestigious tournament, being held for the first time in Bihar, will feature a mascot named ‘Gudiya,’ inspired by the state bird, the sparrow. Six countries, including India, will compete in the tournament alongside China, Thailand, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan. The Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2024 is a collaborative initiative between Hockey India and the Bihar government, with events scheduled at the newly developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium.
