Amid escalating concerns along the Indo-Bangla border, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma on Sunday to discuss ongoing border issues. The meeting followed allegations from Dhaka that India was attempting to erect fences at five specific locations along the shared border, actions Bangladesh claims are in breach of an existing bilateral agreement.
Following the meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin, Verma stated that both nations remain committed to collaboration on border security.
“Our two border enforcement agencies Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been in communication in this regard. We expect that this understanding will be implemented, ensuring a cooperative approach to combating crimes along the border,” Verma said.

The India-Bangladesh border, spanning over 4,000 kilometers, remains one of the longest international borders in the world and a recurring flashpoint for disputes. Key issues include illegal migration, smuggling, and security concerns, which have often strained relations between the neighboring nations.
