An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was diverted to New Delhi following a security concern arising out of a bomb threat. The aircraft landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport safely.
All passengers and crew members on the flight are safe and further inspection is currently underway according to officials.
The flight took off from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at around 2 am and received a bomb threat immediately after.
The aircraft is currently stationed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, and all standard safety protocols are being followed to ensure the safety of passengers and crew, authorities added.
According to reports, a piece of paper with a message about a bomb on the plane was found in one of the lavatories and the relevant authorities were informed immediately.
