New Delhi, 23rd Dec. Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to disenfranchise Purvanchali voters in Delhi. These voters, originating from eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighboring regions, form a significant part of Delhi’s electorate.
Kejriwal alleged that the BJP is labeling Purvanchalis as Rohingyas and systematically removing their names from voter lists ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. Terming it an “anti-Purvanchali conspiracy,” AAP leaders have launched a statewide awareness campaign to mobilize affected communities.
AAP MP Sanjay Azad is spearheading the effort with a ‘padyatra’ to highlight the issue and counter BJP’s alleged tactics. The controversy has added a new layer of tension to the political landscape in Delhi, with AAP aiming to rally Purvanchali voters while accusing BJP of undermining their democratic rights.
BJP leaders have yet to respond to the allegations, as the issue gains traction amid preparations for the upcoming elections.
