“Jharkhand Has Potential to Be India’s Most Prosperous State”: PM Modi at ₹660 Cr Railway Project Launch

Tatanagar, 15th Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday laid the foundation stone for several railway projects worth more than ₹660 crore in Tatanagar, Jharkhand, via video conferencing.

In addition, he flagged off six Vande Bharat trains and distributed sanction letters to 32,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), while also releasing the first installment of ₹32 crore under the scheme. The Prime Minister participated in Griha Pravesh celebrations for 46,000 beneficiaries as well.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi emphasized Jharkhand’s potential to become one of the most prosperous states in India, with a focus on inclusive development under the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. He highlighted how expanded rail connectivity in eastern India will boost the region’s economy, benefiting businesses and creating opportunities for youth and professionals.

The newly inaugurated Vande Bharat trains will enhance connectivity between key destinations, including a train from Varanasi to Deoghar, aimed at boosting tourism and the local economy. The Prime Minister also noted that more than 50 railway stations in Jharkhand are being revamped under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station scheme.

On the housing front, PM Modi emphasized the importance of the PMAY-G initiative in providing pucca houses and boosting self-confidence among the beneficiaries. He highlighted the broader government efforts to uplift marginalized communities, including tribal families, under the PM Janman Yojana.

Governor Santosh Gangwar and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan were present at the event. Despite adverse weather conditions preventing his physical attendance, the Prime Minister expressed his commitment to Jharkhand’s development.

Background: The projects inaugurated include the Madhupur Bypass Line and Hazaribagh Town Coaching Depot, aimed at reducing travel times and improving railway maintenance in Jharkhand. Additionally, the Kurkura-Kanaroan line doubling will enhance passenger and freight mobility on the Rourkela-Gomoh route. Four road under bridges (RUBs) were also dedicated to enhance public safety.
