Bhubaneswar, 13th Sept. Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, launched the “Rangeen Machhli” mobile app at the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA) in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

The app, developed with support from the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), aims to cater to the needs of the ornamental fisheries sector by providing vital resources for hobbyists, aquarium shop owners, and fish farmers.

The launch event was attended by George Kurian, Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, and other senior officials.

Addressing the gathering, Rajiv Ranjan Singh emphasized the growing significance of the ornamental fisheries sector, underscoring its potential for job creation and economic growth. He advocated for promoting aquarium hobbies on a larger scale across the country.

The “Rangeen Machhli” app offers multilingual information on popular ornamental fish species in eight Indian languages, enhancing accessibility for a broad audience.

It includes features such as a “Find Aquarium Shops” tool, which helps users locate nearby aquarium shops through an updated directory, and educational modules for both novices and industry professionals. The app covers essential topics on aquarium care, fish breeding, and maintenance.

The app is available for download on the Google Play Store at Rangeen Machhli App.
