In a significant development that could boost India-US cooperation in technology and innovation, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has confirmed plans to visit India later this year. The announcement came after a phone call between Musk and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, highlighting the growing dialogue between the two on advancing strategic partnerships.

“It was an honour to speak with PM Modi. I am looking forward to visiting India later this year,” Musk said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also took to X, sharing the details of their conversation. “We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation,” Modi wrote, adding that India remains committed to strengthening its partnerships with the United States.
The two leaders had previously met during Modi’s visit to the U.S. in February, where they held talks at Blair House in Washington. That meeting covered a wide array of topics including space exploration, sustainable development, artificial intelligence, and mobility.
Musk’s upcoming visit gains added significance amid speculation that Tesla is preparing to make its long-awaited entry into the Indian market. This development also coincides with continuing discussions around a potential India-U.S. bilateral trade agreement, which could further ease pathways for global tech giants to invest and expand in India.
