Prayagraj: The Prof. Rajendra Singh (Raju Bhaiya) State University has decided to shut down 33 affiliated colleges across Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, and Fatehpur districts. The decision comes after these institutions failed to admit students for the past three years.

The university has officially withdrawn their affiliation following a request from the respective college managements. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Singh confirmed that the Executive Council has approved the decision to revoke affiliation.
These colleges primarily offered traditional courses like BA and MA, but due to a drastic decline in student enrollments, they are no longer viable. Students from institutions with very few enrollments will be relocated to nearby colleges for their convenience.
Prof. Singh emphasized that most of these colleges have seen zero admissions for three years, leaving no option but to shut them down. From the 2025-26 session, these institutions will no longer accept new students. Until now, 703 colleges were affiliated with the university.
No Students Left, College Managements Requested Closure
The issue came to light when one of the college administrations formally wrote to the university seeking closure, citing the lack of students as the primary reason for shutting down operations.
Colleges wishing to regain affiliation in the future will have to submit a fresh application to the university for reconsideration.
