Gandhinagar/Ahmedabad- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah attended multiple events in Gujarat on Sunday, underscoring key initiatives in sports, law, digital services, and the cooperative sector.

During his visit, he laid the foundation stone for a High-Performance Sports Center for Para-Athletes in Gandhinagar, emphasizing India’s commitment to providing world-class infrastructure for differently-abled athletes. He highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sports for All”, recalling how Gujarat, under Modi’s leadership, became a hub for sports infrastructure. He also reaffirmed India’s goal of hosting the 2036 Olympics.

At an event marking the Golden Jubilee Closing Festival of Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank, Shah lauded the bank’s contributions to farmers and livestock owners. He noted its 100-year legacy of empowering rural communities and called for the establishment of a national cooperative organization for taxi drivers, similar to Ola and Uber.

Addressing an oath-taking ceremony for 11,000 newly enrolled advocates, he described the legal profession as a “sacred duty” to uphold democracy and constitutional rights. This gathering set a new world record for the largest oath-taking event of its kind.

Shah also participated in a program where an MoU was signed between Gujarat’s Department of Science and Technology and Common Service Centers (CSC), facilitating over 300 digital services for citizens, including Aadhaar, PAN, and online registrations. He hailed India’s rapid digital transformation, noting the dramatic reduction in mobile data costs and the expansion of rural broadband under BharatNet.

In Ahmedabad, Shah released a ₹150 commemorative coin marking the 150th birth anniversary of Acharya Shri Buddhi Sagar Surishwar Maharaj, recognizing his contributions to karma, dharma, and knowledge.

He also unveiled reprinted books by the Sastu Sahitya Mudranalaya Trust, emphasizing the need to promote reading culture and affordable literature. He stressed that libraries are as important as schools in shaping a nation’s future.

Shah credited Modi’s leadership for setting new milestones in education, economy, and governance over the past decade. He highlighted India’s global rise in startups, digital infrastructure, and agricultural progress as key indicators of development.

His visit reinforced the Modi government’s focus on digital inclusion, sports excellence, legal reforms, and cooperative growth, aligning with its broader vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
