Sheikhpura, 6th Oct. Police were put on high alert on Sunday following violent protests against controversial remarks made by priest Narsinghanand Saraswati regarding Prophet Muhammad. Demonstrators reportedly pelted stones at the Sheikhpura police post, prompting officials to take immediate action.

A case has been registered against 21 named individuals and approximately 40 to 50 unidentified persons under various sections of the law. The protests began when a group gathered outside the police post to submit a memorandum regarding the priest’s remarks.

Superintendent of Police (City) Abhimanyu Manglik described the incident, stating, “The situation escalated when some unruly elements within the crowd began throwing stones at the police post, creating a tense environment.”

In response to the violence, police dispersed the protestors and deployed additional personnel to restore order. Manglik confirmed that no injuries were reported, although around a dozen individuals were taken into custody. Authorities are working to identify the perpetrators through video footage of the incident, and a high alert remains in effect throughout the district.

Narsinghanand, who has already faced legal action in Ghaziabad and Amravati, Maharashtra, is alleged to have made objectionable remarks during an event at Hindi Bhavan in Ghaziabad on September 29. His aides claim he has been detained, although police have not confirmed his status.

To prevent further unrest, huge police presence has been deployed outside the Dasna Devi temple in Ghaziabad, where Narsinghanand resides.
