Amul Announces Expansion Into Europe Following US Success

Amul, India’s iconic dairy brand, is all set to make its mark in Europe after a successful debut in the United States, according to Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Amul and the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF). The announcement came during the 11th Dr. Verghese Kurien Memorial Oration held on Saturday, where Mehta reflected on Amul’s legacy and its future prospects.

Speaking at the event organized by a private business management institute, Mehta hailed the launch of Amul milk in the U.S. as “highly successful.

Mehta also underscored India’s position as the world’s leading milk producer, with the country poised to account for nearly one-third of global milk production in the near future. “India is now the largest milk producer in the world,” he remarked.

Mehta emphasized the company’s commitment to offering protein-rich, organic, and chemical-free products, which have earned the trust of consumers worldwide.

Amul’s operations are staggering in scale, with the brand collecting over 310 lakh litres of milk every day and operating 107 dairy plants across India. With a diverse product portfolio of more than 50 items, Amul sells 22 billion packs annually, Mehta revealed.

The cooperative’s impressive turnover of Rs 80,000 crore has cemented its position as the strongest dairy and food brand globally. Owned by 36 lakh farmers, Amul continues to be a symbol of empowerment for rural India.
