New Delhi, 5th Oct. Mayor Shelly Oberoi has ordered city officials to enhance cleanliness efforts across their jurisdictions, mandating daily reports to confirm that wards are free from construction and demolition (C&D) waste, silt, and debris. The directive came during a meeting with Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Commissioner Ashwani Kumar, where sanitation issues and the MCD’s grievance redressal platform, the ‘MCD 311’ app, were discussed.

Oberoi instructed ground staff to ensure all streets and lanes are cleaned daily, with collected waste properly transported to designated locations.

She emphasized that the junior engineer (maintenance) and the ward in-charge must submit daily certificates to the zone’s deputy commissioner, affirming their areas are clear of waste.

During the meeting, Oberoi focused on improving sanitation in the Chandni Chowk area, calling for intensive cleaning along the route from Red Fort to Fatehpuri Masjid.

Additionally, she urged officials to expedite the routing of auto tipper garbage collection routes and mentioned that the MCD is collaborating with various agencies through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to enhance sanitation efforts in the city.
