Amravati, 5th Oct. In Amravati city, Maharashtra, 21 policemen were injured after a mob hurled stones at them while demanding the registration of a case against Hindu seer Yati Narsinghanand Maharaj over his alleged “objectionable” remarks about Prophet Mohammad. The violent incident occurred on Friday night outside the Nagpuri Gate police station, where at least 10 police vans were damaged.

According to police officials, around 8:15 PM, a large mob gathered to press their demand for action against the seer. While police initially informed them that an FIR had already been registered and inquiries were ongoing, tensions escalated when a video of Narsinghanand’s remarks circulated, prompting the crowd to return to the police station.

The situation turned chaotic as the mob began throwing stones at police personnel. Senior officers intervened, managing to disperse the crowd and send additional police forces to the area. In response to the violence, the police have imposed a prohibitory order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which prohibits the assembly of five or more individuals in the Nagpuri Gate area.

A case has been filed against approximately 1,200 individuals, with 26 identified so far, under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police are actively pursuing those involved in the rioting. Narsinghanand Maharaj has also been charged under sections related to deliberately wounding religious sentiments and actions harmful to national integration.
