GG News Bureau
Unnao, 30th Sept. In a quick response to the rising incidents of cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh, police have gone on high alert after stringent directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A recent incident in Unnao has brought this issue to the forefront, as police shot one suspect involved in the illegal slaughter of cattle.

The incident occurred in the Sadar Kotwali area of Unnao, where police confronted a group of individuals allegedly engaged in cow slaughter. During the encounter, police shot Mahatab Alam Qureshi, one of the suspects, in the leg. While Qureshi was apprehended and taken to a hospital for treatment, his accomplice managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

The situation unfolded on Friday night, when the police acted on reports of cow carcasses being disposed of in the Anwar Nagar and Krishna Nagar areas. Investigations revealed the presence of severed limbs and bloodstains, alongside a thick rope used to bind the cows.

Local residents had previously alerted the police about the ongoing cow slaughter in the area, claiming they reported the issue a day before the police’s arrival. However, residents accused the police of trying to cover up the situation by burying the evidence in the ground upon their arrival.

The escalating concerns prompted Sub-Divisional Officer Sonam Singh to conduct an on-site inspection, leading to the registration of a case against unidentified individuals. The inquiry confirmed the occurrence of cow slaughter, prompting police to take decisive action, which culminated in the shooting of Qureshi.
