New Delhi, 28th September. Amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, BJP National Spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari launched a scathing attack on both the Congress leadership and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, accusing them of corruption. Bhandari claimed that if the Congress party and the Gandhi family were truly honest, they would have removed Siddaramaiah from his position following allegations of his involvement in the scam.
Addressing the media on Saturday, Bhandari said, “Only ‘Operation Corruption’ is being run by the Congress to loot as much public money as possible and provide a cut to the Gandhi family. If they were honest, Siddaramaiah would have been removed from his post.” He further emphasized that the Karnataka High Court had made adverse remarks against the Chief Minister, accusing him of receiving Rs 55 crore in illegal benefits.
Bhandari referenced a recent Karnataka High Court order in which Siddaramaiah sought relief against a Special Court ruling, claiming the Congress leader had benefitted from the MUDA scam. The BJP spokesperson criticized Siddaramaiah’s actions, stating, “When the High Court gave him relief against the governor’s sanction, they accepted it, but now, when it said he is corrupt, he termed it as ‘Operation Lotus.’”
The MUDA scam centers on allegations that Siddaramaiah illegally facilitated the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority to his wife, Parvathi. Bhandari accused Siddaramaiah of being “nervous,” particularly after he revoked the general consent typically granted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). “The people of Karnataka see Siddaramaiah as a corrupt CM. After Rs 55 crore were given to his wife and son, he has no right to stay in office,” Bhandari added.
Bhandari also called for an inquiry into whether the Gandhi family received any “cut money” from the scam, alleging, “The Gandhi family should be questioned. Even if the High Court took cognizance of the case, why is Siddaramaiah still in office? It is clear that the Gandhi family promotes corruption because they themselves are corrupt.”
Meanwhile, a petition has been filed in the Karnataka High Court demanding a CBI investigation into Siddaramaiah’s role in the MUDA scam. Petitioner Snehamayi Krishna stated that the investigation must be conducted by a central agency, as the Karnataka Lokayukta operates under the purview of the state government and the Chief Minister. On Wednesday, a Special Court in Bengaluru directed the Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate the alleged illegalities in the MUDA land allotment case.
