Prayagraj: In anticipation of a massive influx of devotees for the final special bathing day of Maha Kumbh coinciding with Mahashivratri on February 26, authorities have declared a no-vehicle zone across Prayagraj from 6 PM onwards on Tuesday. The Kumbh Mela area will be restricted to vehicles from 4 PM.

According to an official statement from the Mela Police, these traffic restrictions aim to ensure smooth crowd movement and prevent congestion. However, vehicles carrying essential supplies such as milk, vegetables, medicines, and fuel, along with emergency and government service vehicles, will be exempted.
Authorities have advised devotees to use the designated ghats closest to their entry points to prevent overcrowding. Those entering via the Dakshini Jhunsi route should proceed to Arail Ghat, while those coming from the Uttari Jhunsi route have been directed to Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat. Similarly, devotees arriving through the Pande Kshetra should use Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat. Pilgrims from the Arail sector should use Arail Ghat.
Officials have also urged devotees to complete their rituals and leave the premises promptly to avoid unnecessary crowding. Pontoon bridges will be regulated based on real-time crowd density to ensure safety.
Being held after 12 years, the Maha Kumbh Mela began on January 13 and will conclude on February 26. So far, over 63 crore pilgrims have visited the religious gathering, making it one of the largest in history, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.
The administration has appealed to all visitors to comply with the guidelines and cooperate with authorities to maintain order during the grand event.
