The grandeur of the Maha Kumbh 2025 is being witnessed not just in Bharat but across the world. Sanatani Hindus from every corner of the globe are gathering in Prayagraj to be part of this 144-year celestial event. Organized by the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh, this 45-day religious gathering has already seen over 63 crore pilgrims take a holy dip.

However, amid this spiritual fervor, the untimely deaths of 48 pilgrims have raised serious concerns. Reports indicate that 30 deaths occurred in Prayagraj and 18 at New Delhi Railway Station, allegedly due to mismanagement. Yet, those responsible show no remorse, and the government investigation remains ongoing.

Despite these tragic incidents, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly on February 24 has sparked controversy. When questioned about the mismanagement at the Maha Kumbh, his response—”Jako Rahi Bhavna Jaisi” (one perceives as per one’s emotions)—has left many wondering whether he considers himself greater than God. Were the deaths of 48 pilgrims merely a matter of perception? Should the government not be held accountable for these losses?

By invoking this spiritual phrase, Yogi Adityanath appears to trivialize the concerns of grieving families. The phrase, deeply rooted in Sanatan Hindu Dharm, symbolizes devotion, surrender, and love for the divine. However, using it to justify administrative failures raises serious ethical questions.

Historically, Sanatani Hindus have endured political manipulations by Mughals and the British. Since 2014, a new wave of Hindutva resurgence has emerged, unsettling its adversaries. However, Yogi Adityanath’s attempt to shift the focus from governance failures to religious sentiments is both unexpected and disheartening. His leadership is expected to uphold the values of Sanatan Hindu Dharm, not use them as a shield for administrative shortcomings.

Is everything truly functioning smoothly under his government? Are all BJP MLAs satisfied with his leadership? While he may command some sections of the media, truth remains unyielding—”Satyameva Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs). Yogi Adityanath is both a Sanyasi and a Politician, but power and politics have their own dynamics, which he understands yet hesitates to acknowledge.

Sanatani Hindus have high expectations from Yogi Adityanath, but trust should not be mistaken for blind loyalty. Governance must prioritize the people, not just political interests. The emerging trend in Bhartiya politics suggests that those in power see themselves as invincible. However, history shows that when the people awaken, they can transform from mere devotees into forces of change.

As for good governance, Yogi Adityanath still has much to learn from Global Leader & Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi, who has elevated Bharat’s stature on the global stage. His strategic leadership sets an example that Yogi should keenly observe and follow.

Concerns also arise regarding bureaucratic inefficiencies within Yogi’s administration. Reports suggest that certain officials and politicians actively undermine his image and influence. During our Maha Kumbh visit in 6-7 February, we witnessed firsthand the chaos in transportation and mismanagement at pilgrimage sites. It took us 21 hours to travel from Delhi to Prayagraj—an ordeal that could have been much longer without interventions. Additionally, exorbitant boat charges ranging from ₹10,000 to ₹30,000 or more were extorted from pilgrims at the ghats, with no official receipts issued. This blatant mismanagement resulted in significant revenue losses for the state. These type of mismanagment have been observed at Kashi Vishwanath & Shri Ram Lala Mandir area at Ayodhaya too.

Yogi Adityanath must address such governance failures rather than dismissing them with philosophical  justifications. Sometimes Over confidence and rhetoric can be self-damaging. While he holds power, constructive criticism from well-wishers like ourselves should not be ignored. The Sanatani Hindu community takes pride in his leadership but also expects accountability and sincerity for Santani Hindu society and the state.
