Ludhiana- The Punjab Police on Monday demolished the houses of drug mafia Sonu and Rahul Hans as part of the state government’s ongoing war on drugs. Armed with bulldozers, police personnel razed the illegal properties linked to the two accused in and around Ludhiana.

In a late-night operation, police bulldozed drug smuggler Sonu’s illegal house in Talwandi village. Sonu has been involved in drug trafficking for the past three years, with six FIRs registered against him. In a separate incident on Tuesday, police also brought down a mansion belonging to Rahul Hans, valued at ₹47 lakh, in Ludhiana.
The Punjab government appears to be adopting a no-tolerance approach similar to that of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in tackling illegal activities. Authorities have pledged to intensify their crackdown on drug networks while ensuring rehabilitation support for affected individuals.
The state government has instructed district administrations to set up de-addiction centers with essential medicines, testing kits, and trained personnel. “All DCs are directed to ensure an adequate number of rehab and de-addiction centers equipped with necessary facilities within the next two days,” read an official statement.
Last week, Punjab Police arrested four drug smugglers in separate cases and seized over five kilograms of heroin. The arrested individuals were identified as Gurjant Singh alias Kalu, Jagjit Singh from Amritsar, Sahil Kumar from Tarn Taran, and Rinku from Ferozepur.
