Florida Braces For Hurricane Helene As It Accelerates Towards Big Bend

Published:

Florida is bracing for a ‘unsurvivable’ and ‘dangerous’ storm, Hurricane Helene, a category 4 storm.

Helene with winds of 140 miles per hour, is expected to keep intensifying before making landfall in a few hours as the strongest storm to ever strike the Florida’s Big Bend region. Weather forecasts indicate that the enormous storm could create a “nightmare” surge in coastal areas and bring dangerous winds and rain across much of the southeastern U.S.

A hurricane warning has been issued for the Florida Gulf Coast from Anclote River to Mexico Beach, with a storm surge warning also in effect from Mexico Beach to Flamingo, including Tampa Bay and Charlotte Harbor.

Florida’s Gulf Coast is under a tropical storm warning, along with the Florida Keys and the entirety of the state’s Atlantic coast, as well as the coastlines of Georgia and South Carolina. The officials have warned residents to brace for life-threatening rain, floods and storm surge.
