Prayagraj- In a remarkable effort to promote cleanliness, 15,000 sanitation workers in Prayagraj attempted to set a Guinness World Record on Monday by carrying out a synchronised cleanliness drive across four zones of the Maha Kumbh Mela.
Prayagraj Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani, Mahakumbh’s Special Executive Officer Akanksha Rana, and a supervisory team from the Guinness Book of World Records witnessed the event. Chief supervisor and judge Rishi Nath, who arrived from London with his team, oversaw the record attempt. The workers were counted by scanning the unique codes on their wristbands. The final validation report will be released in three days, according to an official statement.
In the 2019 Kumbh, 10,000 sanitation workers had set a similar Guinness World Record. Speaking on the occasion, Kesarwani said the attempt has sent a strong message of cleanliness from the sacred land of Prayagraj to the world.
Uttar Pradesh Urban Development and Energy Minister AK Sharma praised the sanitation workers, calling them the “true heroes” behind the success of Maha Kumbh. “They worked day and night to keep the Kumbh Mela area clean,” he stated.
The Maha Kumbh, recognized as the world’s largest religious, spiritual, and cultural gathering, has drawn millions of devotees, with sanitation playing a crucial role in its smooth execution.
