Italian PM Giorgia Meloni Celebrates Conservative Victories, Slams Global Liberal Network

Published:

Washington, D.C.: Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni hailed the growing influence of right-leaning leaders worldwide, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during her speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2025 in Washington on Sunday.

Meloni, a vocal critic of left-wing politics, took aim at what she described as a “global leftist liberal network”, accusing it of double standards in its treatment of conservative leaders. She contrasted the praise received by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair for their global liberal movement in the 1990s with the backlash faced by Trump, Argentine President Javier Milei, Modi, and herself today.

“When Bill Clinton and Tony Blair created the global leftist liberal network in the 90s, they were called statesmen. Today, when Trump, Meloni, Milei or maybe Modi talk, they are called a threat to democracy. This is the Left’s double standard,” Meloni declared to a cheering conservative crowd.

Meloni on Why Conservative Leaders Are Winning Elections

Meloni attributed the electoral success of conservative leaders worldwide to the public’s growing distrust of left-wing politics and media narratives. She asserted that despite constant attacks from mainstream media and political elites, right-wing leaders continue to triumph because people no longer believe the lies of the Left.

“People are not naive as The Left considers them. They vote for us because we defend freedom, we love our nations, we want secure borders, we preserve businesses and citizens from green leftist insanity. We defend family and life, we fight against wokeism, we protect our sacred right to our faith and our free speech, and we stand for common sense,” she declared.

Meloni, a strong ally of Trump and other nationalist leaders, pointed to the collaboration among conservative governments as a key factor behind their growing global influence.

Trump’s Victory and the Left’s “Hysteria”

Meloni also addressed Trump’s return to power, arguing that it has intensified panic among leftist elites. She claimed that Trump’s leadership, along with a network of like-minded conservative leaders, has strengthened global resistance against leftist ideology.

“The Left is nervous, and with Trump’s victory, their irritation has turned into hysteria — not only because conservatives are winning but because conservatives are collaborating globally,” she said.

Meloni dismissed concerns that Trump’s administration might distance itself from other conservative leaders, expressing confidence that Trump would remain a strong global ally.

“Our adversaries hope that President Trump will move away from us, but knowing him as a strong and effective leader, I bet that those who hope for divisions will be proven wrong,” she added.

A Growing Conservative Coalition

Meloni’s speech at CPAC 2025 reflects the growing political alliance between nationalist and right-wing leaders across the world. Leaders like Trump, Modi, Milei, and Meloni have embraced a common political philosophy, emphasizing national sovereignty, economic conservatism, anti-woke policies, and strict immigration control.

Her remarks signal a strengthening of ties between conservative governments, setting the stage for closer cooperation in global politics, trade, and security. As right-wing parties gain momentum in Europe, the U.S., Latin America, and Asia, the coming years could see a further reshaping of global political dynamics.
