Manu Bhaker the Only Shooter Competing in Two Individual Events

New Delhi, Saturday, Feb 22, 2025: The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) has unveiled a 35-member squad for the first two ISSF World Cups of the year, set to take place in South America this April. The combined (Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun) competitions will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from April 1-11, followed by Lima, Peru, from April 13-22.

Leading the contingent is two-time Olympic bronze medalist Manu Bhaker, who remains the only Indian shooter competing in two individual events – the women’s 10m air pistol and the women’s 25m pistol. Other Paris Olympians retaining their spots include Anish and Vijayveer Sidhu (men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol), Esha Singh (women’s 25m pistol), Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar (men’s 50m rifle 3 positions), Sift Kaur Samra and Shriyanka Sadangi (women’s 50m rifle 3 positions), Arjun Babuta (men’s 10m air rifle), Prithviraj Tondaiman (men’s trap), Anant Jeet Singh Naruka (men’s skeet) and Raiza Dhillon (women’s skeet).

The squad will participate in a national training camp at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi, starting March 14, 2025, before departing for the competitions.

Reflecting on India’s post-Paris Olympics campaign, NRAI Secretary General Kr. Sultan Singh expressed confidence in the team’s potential. “Our top shooters are once again ready to take on the best in the world. With strong support from the Government of India and the Ministry of Sports, we aim to build on our recent success and push our limits even further. We are confident that the selected athletes will deliver outstanding performances.”

This year’s ISSF calendar features three World Cup stages per discipline, two Junior World Cups – including one in New Delhi in September – the 16th Asian Championships in Kazakhstan in August, and the World Championships for Shotgun (October) and Rifle/Pistol (November) as the season’s major highlight.
