Suruchi Dominates Again as Kiran and Varun Secure Trial Victories

Published:

Haryana’s rising pistol shooting star, Suruchi, continued her remarkable form this season, adding another victory to her name by winning the women’s 10m air pistol T1 event at the ongoing Rifle/Pistol National Selection Trials (Group A) at Delhi’s Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. Having already secured seven golds at the Nationals and additional titles at the National Games, she once again outclassed a strong domestic field. Meanwhile, the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions (3P) T2 and men’s 10m air pistol T1 events were won by recently crowned national champions—Navy shooter Kiran Ankush Jadhav in 3P and Army’s Varun Tomar in air pistol.

Suruchi’s Unrelenting Streak

Suruchi’s dominance in women’s air pistol remained evident as she stormed into the finals with a commanding 586 in qualification, surpassing Asian Games champion Palak (584) and Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker (581). Despite competition from top shooters like Rhythm Sangwan and Sainyam, Suruchi delivered an exceptional 246.5 in the final, finishing just 0.5 short of the world record. Chandigarh’s Sainyam secured second place with 241.5, while Manu Bhaker climbed into third after a steady performance.

Kiran and Varun Shine in Their Respective Events

In the men’s 50m rifle 3P T2 final, Navy’s Kiran Ankush Jadhav replicated his Nationals success by clinching the title with 460.0 points. Akhil Sheoran of Uttar Pradesh trailed closely, finishing second with 459.8, while seasoned Army shooter Chain Singh took third place.

The men’s 10m air pistol T1 event saw Army shooter Varun Tomar continue his fine form, securing victory with a score of 243.2. His teammate Ajendra Singh Chauhan finished second, while Rajasthan’s Amit Sharma claimed third place.
