558 Killed, Over 1,800 Injured As Israel Launches Strikes On Lebanon

Published:

At least 558 people were killed and over 1,800 others were injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon on Monday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Women, children, and medics were among those killed in the Israeli airstrikes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a direct appeal to the Lebanese people, urging them not to become “human shields” for Hezbollah. In a video message shared online, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel’s conflict is not with the citizens of Lebanon but with Hezbollah.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a statement confirmed the launch of a large-scale operation, striking about 1,600 targets, including long-range cruise missiles, command posts and other terror infrastructure, including those located inside civilian homes.

Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, during a preparedness assessment, urged the public to remain calm and disciplined in the face of escalating violence. The IDF also issued warnings to Lebanese civilians, urging them to distance themselves from Hezbollah-occupied sites, particularly those used to store weapons.

The Israeli military spokesperson R Adm Daniel Hagari in a televised statement said, “To all the residents of the villages in Lebanon, in the near future we will strike terror targets in Lebanon. We call on everyone who is near properties or inside homes where Hezbollah is hiding weapons, we call on you to distance yourselves from them immediately. This is for your safety and protection.”
