Arvind Kejriwal Alleges Attacks on AAP Workers, Demands Independent Observers in New Delhi Constituency

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal has alleged that his party workers are being attacked ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections and has urged the Election Commission (EC) to appoint independent observers in his New Delhi constituency. In a letter to the EC, the former Delhi chief minister has also demanded the immediate arrest of BJP workers allegedly involved in these incidents and the suspension of police officers responsible for law enforcement in the affected areas.

AAP Highlights Attacks on Party Workers, Demands Strict Action

Kejriwal’s letter to the EC details multiple alleged incidents of violence targeting AAP workers. He has claimed that BJP supporters are deliberately intimidating and assaulting AAP campaigners to disrupt election preparations. The letter further accuses the police of inaction and calls for strict disciplinary measures against officers failing to protect AAP workers.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also wrote to the Election Commission on Saturday, alleging that BJP workers assaulted AAP volunteers and attempted to prevent them from campaigning in the New Delhi constituency.

AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal Allegedly Attacked in Rohini Rally

One of the alleged attacks mentioned in Kejriwal’s letter involved AAP MLA Mohinder Goyal, who was reportedly assaulted during a public rally in Rohini on Saturday. The incident took place while Goyal, the party’s candidate from the Rithala Assembly segment, was engaging with local residents of Pocket H in Sector 11. AAP has strongly condemned the incident and demanded immediate action against the perpetrators.

No Response Yet from BJP or Delhi Police

Despite these allegations, no immediate response has been issued by either the BJP or the Delhi Police regarding Kejriwal’s claims. The absence of an official statement has added to the political tension as campaigning for the elections intensifies.

A High-Stakes Triangular Contest in New Delhi Constituency

Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi constituency, where he faces a tough triangular battle against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit. With tensions running high, AAP has expressed concerns over the fairness of the electoral process and is seeking intervention from the EC to ensure free and fair elections.

The elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are set to take place on February 5, with the results scheduled to be announced on February 8. As the polling day nears, political parties are engaged in fierce campaigning, with AAP raising serious concerns about the security and integrity of the election process in the national capital.
