FIH Pro League 2024-25: India Announces 32-Member Squad for Bhubaneswar Leg

Harmanpreet Singh to Lead, Hardik Singh Named Vice-Captain

Hockey India has announced a 32-member Indian men’s hockey squad for the Bhubaneswar leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25. The tournament will be held at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, where India will face Spain, Germany, Ireland, and England in double-legged matches from February 15 to 25.

Drag-flick specialist Harmanpreet Singh will continue to captain the side, while Hardik Singh has been named vice-captain.

Balanced Squad with a Mix of Experience and Youth

The squad features a combination of senior players and promising young talents who have impressed in the junior circuit and the ongoing Hockey India League.

In the goalkeeping department, India will rely on Krishan Bahadur Pathak, Suraj Karkera, and Princedeep Singh.

The defensive unit includes Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Jugraj Singh, and Varun Kumar, along with captain Harmanpreet Singh. Yashdeep Siwach and Nilam Sanjeep Xess add further depth to the backline.

The midfield will be controlled by experienced players such as Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, and Nilakanta Sharma, alongside Rajkumar Pal, Shamsher Singh, Moirangthem Rabichandra Singh, and Rajinder Singh.

The forward line is spearheaded by Mandeep Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, and Gurjant Singh. Youngsters Angad Bir Singh and Arshdeep Singh, who have earned their maiden call-ups to the senior team, will also get a chance to showcase their talent.

Coach Craig Fulton Confident in Team’s Potential

Speaking about the squad selection, Indian head coach Craig Fulton said,
“I am very pleased with the squad we have selected for the FIH Pro League matches in Bhubaneswar. This group has the right mix of skill, experience, and youth, and I believe they can compete strongly against top international teams.”

He further added,
“I have been closely observing these players over the past few weeks, and I am eager to see how they perform in this crucial tournament.”
