Salima Tete to Lead, Navneet Kaur Named Vice-Captain for Bhubaneswar Leg
Hockey India has revealed the 24-member Indian Women’s Hockey Team for the Bhubaneswar leg of the FIH Pro League 2024-25, set to take place at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium from February 15 to 25. India will play against England, the Netherlands, Spain, and Germany twice, starting their campaign against England on February 15.
The squad comprises goalkeepers Savita and Bichu Devi Kharibam, while the defensive unit includes Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Jyoti, Ishika Chaudhary, and Jyoti Chhatri.
In midfield, Salima Tete leads the team alongside Neha, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Manisha Chauhan, Sunelita Toppo, Lalremsiami, Sharmila Devi, and Baljeet Kaur. The attacking lineup features Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sangita Kumari, Deepika, Preeti Dubey, Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Beauty Dungdung, and Mumtaz Khan.
Salima Tete has been appointed as the team’s captain, with forward Navneet Kaur serving as vice-captain.
The standby list includes goalkeeper Banwari Solanki, defenders Akshata Abaso Dhekale and Jyoti Singh, as well as forwards Sakshi Rana, Annu, and Sonam.
Under FIH rules, teams with more than four matches in a Pro League stage can modify their squad after the first four matches using pre-approved standby players. Among them, Sonam could potentially make her senior international debut after an impressive showing in the Women’s Hero Hockey India League.
Chief Coach Harendra Singh expressed confidence in the squad, stating, “We have selected a well-balanced team, combining experience with young talent. The FIH Pro League is a crucial platform, and we believe this squad can deliver strong performances against top-ranked teams.”
