Trump Threatens Sweeping Tariffs On Russia If Putin Refuses To Stop Ukraine War

Published:

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to make a “deal” to end the “ridiculous” war in Ukraine, warning that he would impose “high levels” of tariffs on Russian exports to the US and other countries if the war continues.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump reaffirmed his respect for the Russian people and his positive past relationship with Putin. He also criticized the “Radical Left” and their Russia-related claims, dismissing them as a “hoax.”

“I’m not trying to harm Russia. I love the Russian people, and I’ve always had a good relationship with President Putin, despite the Radical Left’s Russia, Russia, Russia hoax. We must remember that Russia helped us win World War II, sacrificing nearly 60 million lives. That said, I’m about to do Russia, whose economy is struggling, and President Putin a big favor,” Trump wrote.

He added, “Make a deal now and end this ridiculous war! It will only escalate. If we don’t reach a ‘deal’ soon, I’ll have no choice but to impose high taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on everything Russia sells to the US and other nations. Let’s end this war, which would never have happened if I were President. We can do this the easy way or the hard way—and the easy way is always better. It’s time to ‘make a deal.’ No more lives should be lost.”
