PM Modi Condoles Loss of Lives in Uttara Kannada Accident

New Delhi, 22nd Jan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in a recent accident in Uttara Kannada district, Karnataka. He announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The incident occurred near Gullapur village in the Yellapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district. Three individuals—Raghavendra Somaiah Gowda (34), Gaurish Naik (25), and Ramesh Naik (22)—were riding a motorcycle when it collided head-on with a bus, resulting in their deaths.

The Prime Minister’s Office conveyed his condolences on X, stating, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident in the Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected.”

The local administration is providing assistance to those affected by the accident.
