KL Rahul, the India cricketer, is all set to miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy clash against Punjab, on January 23, due to a niggle. However, according to sources, “there is a possibility that he might play” in Karnataka’s next clash versus Haryana, starting on January 30.

The right-hand opener is said to be suffering from an elbow problem. Incidentally, Rahul has also been picked for the three-match ODI series versus England, commencing on February 6. Rishabh Pant, the aggressive wicketkeeper-bat, will represent Delhi, and he could be up against  the experienced Saurashtra all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. As per sources, the spinner is expected to partake in the Delhi-Saurashtra game.

In fact, the veteran cricketer has been a part of Saurashtra’s training sessions as they gear up for the game versus Delhi. On the other hand, there is still some uncertainty over whether Mohammed Siraj would make himself available for Hyderabad’s next Ranji Trophy encounter against Himachal Pradesh, on January 23. In all likelihood, the fast bowler would play in Hyderabad’s subsequent game against Vidarbha.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, the vice-captain of the Indian set-up  for the forthcoming Champions Trophy, has made himself available for the Karnataka-Punjab encounter. Rohit Sharma, the India skipper, will also take part in a Ranji game versus Jammu and Kashmir. This will be his first Ranji game since November 2015, when he had represented Mumbai against Uttar Pradesh at the Wankhede Stadium. He ended up accumulating a hundred in that match.

The BCCI had recently made it mandatory for all contracted Indian players to play domestic cricket, unless there are issues related to fitness.
